Megan's Fulfilling & Warming Winter Porridge
¾ cup rolled oats or millet, rice or buckwheat flakes
½ cup buckwheat groats
¼ cup pumpkin seeds
¼ cup ground sunflower seeds
¼ cup ground sesame seeds
2 tsp. ground linseed
4 dates or handful of organic sultanas or currants
2 cups milk or soy milk or water
Optional sweeteners for the sweet toothed:
large tbsp of (Grandma's) homemade apple sauce (basically apples, sugar and cinnamon)
1-2 tsp. maple syrup
Simmer gently on med. to med-high heat stirring constantly
(don't burn milk!) 5-10 minutes.
Remove from heat, cover and let sit another 5 minutes
(if you can wait that long!)
